I'll be the first to admit, I've tried the restrictive diet fads, thought cardio was the best type of exercise to lose weight, even gave magic wraps a try to tighten and tone, and guess what happened? I always reverted back to old, unhealthy eating habits and excuses to not exercise. Since joining BODi I've learned a lot about myself and my mindset towards food and exercise. Slowly, but surely, the changes I was implementing to shift that mindset and create more sustainable healthy habits into my daily routine, I was also seeing the positive impact that it was having on my overall mentality and functioning throughout the day.
I want to reiterate that when talking about the changes I was making I did say "slowly, but surely", that was for a reason. Often times we're caught up in looking for a quick fix and getting to the end results, we forget to enjoy the process along the way, and that's why I want to start with sharing these three simple changes as a starting point. Get consistent and comfortable with this, take the time to figure it out in a way that is balanced and sustainable for your life so that you have a strong foundation to build on.

Drink more water. Yup, more water, the most simple and beneficial thing anyone can do for themselves, you would be amazed at how much the proper intake of water daily can increase your energy, mood, and overall function of your body. It is recommended to drink half your body weight in ounces of water.
Add more veggies and protein to the menu. The diet industry often focuses on what you should be cutting out, but really you should focus on what you can add in. I think it really is just human

nature, once someone says you can't have something anymore, you instantly want it, so for me, shifting the focus to what I can add gave me something more realistic to work towards. I was finding it fun to learn new ways to cook vegetables and finding ways to have protein desserts to satisfy my sweet tooth in a healthy way, and soon enough incorporating these things no longer felt like a diet to follow, but just part of my normal diet for everyday life.
Lift weights 3-5 times a week for at least 20 minutes. You don't need to make an elaborate and long fitness routine; I know you're busy and the sound of a workout can seem daunting to fit in when maybe you're feeling like you already have too much on your plate. Want to know a secret? You're worth making the time for! This goal is committing less than 2 hours a week to your fitness, it is possible. As women, once we hit 30, we begin to naturally lose muscle mass, it is so important that we combat that by building muscle ourselves. Lifting weights not only allows us to become stronger, leaner and more toned, but

it builds our confidence not just in our bodies, but in ourselves as well. It really is amazing how great it feels when you do hard things and the impact it can have on your growth as a person.
Now I am not saying this is going to solve all of your problems, but it is a good place to start. Your health and wellbeing is something that you work on for the long haul, there is always going to be something you can improve, new interests, goals, your body will change, and then change again, but lay your foundation strong with these 3 simple tips and see the difference it can make for yourself.
