I don't know about you, but my kiddo was ready to jump into Valentine's Day as soon as the new year hit, I held her off for as long as possible, before I gave in and dove into all things hearts. I kept it simple for supplies and tried a fun movement game as well, I hope you enjoy and give some of these a try with your littles!

Heart Pizza

For this craft you will need to cut a large pink heart, allow your child to use red paint for the "sauce" on the pink heart. Once dry you can use yellow tissue paper as cheese and sparkly red hearts for a pepperoni topping.

Musical Hearts

This was a fun remix to Musical Chairs and can be fun for a small group of children. I cut out hearts from red, pink and purple construction paper, I then laminated them (I do this to so they withstand multiple usages, but it is not necessary). I then wrote on the hearts various things to do such as fly like a butterfly or sing

your ABCs. Once ready to play make a circle on the floor with the hearts, the writing she be face down. Follow the rules of Musical Chairs and as your child lands on a heart they have to do the action on the heart as well.

Heart Person

You will start by cutting a large red heart, 4 white strips of paper that will be used as arms and legs and 4 little hearts for hands and feet. Fold all 4 white strips accordion style and then glue the smaller hearts onto the end of each strip. Attach the arms and legs to the large heart with glue, then glue on eyes and draw a mouth.

You'll see in the photo my daughter has an active imagination and had just watched the new Trolls movie, she insisted her heart person have troll hair. It may have pained my perfectionist deep inside of me, but seeing her bring her imagination to life is the most amazing feeling.

Heart Counting

Much like musical hearts, you're going to cut out large hearts and laminate if you'd like to. Then you will write a number on each heart, have your child identify the number and then count out

that many objects, we used smaller paper hearts, but you could also use heart shaped candy for added fun. You could take this game in a different direction and do capital and lower-case alphabet matching or even use as sight word flashcards if appropriate.

Lady Bug Heart

First you will cut a large red hard, a smaller pink heart that will be glued onto the red heart, and black semi circles for the head and backside.

Glue the pink heart onto the red heart as previously mentioned and then attach the remaining black pieces.

Once the body is made you can glue on eyes and then give your lady bug black spots. I let my little use her finger to make her spots, but you can also use a Q-Tip, back end of a paintbrush or even a wine cork, whatever will give you a circle for spots.

I love you to the moon and back

There's nothing more romantic than a starry night sky! In this craft you can let your child paint a little pink on the black paper to give your sky some color or you can skip the paint if you want. I then had a moon and small hearts cut out for her to glue together a starry night sky. This activity was fun

because she was able to create the sky how she wanted it and of course her imagination went wild and she had lots of stories to tell.
