Your kids got up early again, their listening ears were gone by noon, of course they didn't take a nap, dinner needs to be made and your husband is working late again...engage survival mode. It would be easy to just roll over, admit defeat, maybe lose your mind a little, but I promise you there are better options, my top recommendation, go outside. I'm sure some of you are thinking why would I do that if I can't control them inside, but guess what? It has been proven that even just a few minutes outside can change your mood, and this goes for not just the kids, but you too.

Here's a few other reasons if mood changer wasn't enough of a why.

- Improving physical health

- Natural Vitamin D

- Improved immune system

- Increased creativity

Alright so you're outside, now what?

Don't worry I have a few cheap and simple suggestions to get you moving.

- Sidewalk chalk: It doesn't get much simpler than chalk and the options are endless. A new favorite I saw on an Instagram reel, an obstacle course, which can be great for practicing balance, hopping, and much more. I also sometimes us chalk for learning opportunities, matching, shapes, letters, numbers, etc. Feeling fancy, check out glitter chalk!

- Take a walk: Free and easy, take a walk around the block, take in the sights, sneak in a game of eye spy, collect rocks or leaves along the way, with endless options, walking is so vastly underrated not only for fitness, but mental health. Want to take it to the next level? Find a local trail and do a nature scavenger hunt.

- Bubbles: Don't underestimate the calming effect that bubbles can have on a child. Some enjoy just watching, others want to pop them, older children try to catch them. A bubble machine is such a great investment!
